Miscarriages - what did you do after it came out?

I feel ridiculous asking this question, but I couldn't bring myself to flush it down the toilet after it came out. I put it in a container, and my husband and I plan to bury it and plant a tree over it.

I had to have a D&C at 16 weeks, baby’s heartbeat had stopped at 13.
I didn’t take the remains home or anything. I guess I just wanted it all to be over. I dunno I think if it was later I would feel differently, but personally this was more of a missed opportunity than losing a child. As attached as I was to my belly, I didn’t really know that baby, I dunno hard to explain. Some days I feel guilty for not feeling it more I guess. We have two girls and we found out at 12 weeks baby had issues and we were relieved we didn’t have to terminate and baby made the choice.

Ours was removed in hospital, so we had them take the remains. We just don't believe in attachment to a physical body after death is important. I definitely get why people do, we just personally don't. We had our own private "memorial" at home just the two of us, and I'm planting a small garden for her. 
I think the tree is a wonderful idea. ♥️

I was just in shock that my miscarriage was actually the event in question & kind of in denial about the massive clots being pregnancy tissue. I flushed everything down the toilet because I was on the toilet as it was happening. I do regret though not taking a closer look to try and see baby. In a way I feel like I didn’t get to say goodbye. We weren’t going to bury it because we are in a rental.

So sorry for your loss. I think your idea sounds beautiful. I lost my baby boy at 20 weeks in 2017, stillbirth, we had him cremated.

My mother miscarried... The baby was 18 weeks so it might be different... But she had him cremated and keeps the ashes in a box in her closet. (She isn't mentally ready to have him out in the open and see him every day.)
I'd definitely do something like burying them as a sign of respect for the child you could of had but lost... Itll also help bring closure if you say goodbye.

I regret flushing mine down the toilet I feel awful about it I just didn't know what to do. I should have buried the baby, later I thought about what you said and everyday I regret not doing that.🥺

My babe was too small for me to even find when I lost it, but I think a burial and the tree sounds like a beautiful way to memorialize baby.
We had a full term stillbirth and they offered to cremate him or send him to the funeral home for a burial and I couldn’t bear the thought of an improper burial... so we had the whole memorial service and everything..
