It doesn’t matter what is bottles you get.

I bought 8 oz bottles because you can always fill them with less and I knew eventually she'd eat more than 4oz in a sitting and I didn't want to have to re-buy a whole set of bottles. I did, however, have to buy extra slow flow nipples separately because I didn't want her to prefer the bottle over actually nursing because it was "easier". If formula feeding you still probably need a slower flow nipple than typically comes with an 8oz bottle for a newborn.

The nipple is more important. Bottles don’t typically come with the slowest flow nipple so that has to be purchased separately

Either one. We never used bigger than 4 oz. Nipple size is what matters, not bottle size.

We used 4oz for our new born to help with gas. Less air in it that way, with the slow flow nipples helped her not spit up as much.

I like using bigger bottles so you don’t have to buy new ones later. Just make sure you buy the slowest flow nipples you can find in the brand you’re looking at.
