Need help!

I just had my first ultrasound. I am 10 weeks and 5 days! It took the doctor a matter of 5-7 minutes to say that the baby cannot be located and there is no heartbeat, something isn’t right, you may be earlier than we thought or you are about to miscarry. He said if I don’t miscarry by October 23rd then to come in for another ultrasound and we will try to find baby again or talk about a D&C. I need advice?

I only have some spotting but no cramping. I have symptoms of being pregnant. Every tests comes back positive. My cervix, blood work, and PAP came back normal.

What did I do wrong?
