Screen Time

As a parent with children who have a cell phone, how do you limit your child’s screen time? Do you allow them to use all of the phones features during a specific amount of time during the day? Do you limit to use on weekends?

I’m curious how others use this feature and what age your child(ren) are. Here’s how we do it:

Age: 12

iPhone Screen Time: limited to only be able to text/call/FaceTime family members. No deletion or addition or editing of contacts allowed either. No internet access without asking permission, no access to games without asking permission, also only has access to apps rated 12+.

The reason we do this is to ensure homework is completed, chores are done, and to monitor how long the phone is being used. Now, if we see that she’s on the phone texting at 1am- she’s told to put the phone down. As she gets older though, she can start to get access to more time to communicate but she will not be allowed on any social media or access to emails.
