How to prevent cats from destroying furniture?

We have two cats. I trim their nails at least once a month (and I wouldn’t declaw, I think that’s cruel- they literally take off part of their toes) but constantly they try to claw up one of our couches in particular, as well as the wooden banister by the staircase. They have plenty of toys, a scratching post (which they use) and never seem bored. They’re always playing, cuddling, chasing something, or looking out the windows, and always seem very happy. So I think in their minds they probably see it as another scratching post for them. 
How can I break them from this habit or prevent them from damaging things? We’re looking to buy a house soon as well as need to get new couches if we move and I don’t want them to destroy anything. Any tips?

I know its tacky looking but we used to wrap things in tin foil and the cats hat the texture and sound of it. After awhile you can take the tin foil down and they associate that spot with tin foil
There is also all natural sprays you can buy that’ll deter them from scratching that are fine to use on couches and different fabrics
I’ve used both of these things and they seem to work

We have four cats, and two of them love to scratch! We get the little kitty nail caps and put those on them. They hate the process, but they last a month per application and no more sharp!

I got some cat scratching tape off Amazon. It's like $3 a roll. It's essentially clear double sided tape, but it's really sticky and thick so that they don't just claw it off or whatever
It broke my cats bad habit of clawing in like a month. He had toys, cat scratching trees, trimmed nails, ect and he still did it. So I put the tape everywhere he'd normally scratch. Then he went through a routine of finding new places to scratch, so as soon as I saw him start somewhere else, I'd put tape there too. Within a month he stopped all scratching besides his post and that was that. I took off the tape and it's been several months and he's never done it again

For couches they make like this plastic stuff you put on so they can’t scratch it. We got a huge cat tree and that pretty much solved them attacking the furniture. Sometimes the one stretch’s on the bed side but as soon as we feel it we hit the bed and she stops. You could also try the nail caps

Depending on the material, you could buy some double sided tape (they have some special kind for cats on Amazon) and put it on spots where they like to scratch. It worked with my cats when they were kittens. They didn't like the sticky tape. But again, it just depends on the material because you don't want to damage your furniture from the tape.

Maybe offer more items to scratch. I know you say you already have a post but maybe they need different kinds for different sensory input. Our one cat has several different scratching items around the house.
