Is it okay to wear bright red to a wedding?

For some reason I’ve seen mixed opinions on this, the same for wearing black. I don’t see why it would be an issue but I just wanted to see everyone else’s opinions as I’m going to a wedding this weekend and the dress I have is bright red lol ￼￼

I can never understand why black would be a no for any occasion. It’s pretty neutral and looks very nice. As for the red I wouldn’t worry unless your going to be in a lot of photos with the bride. If it is a very red dress it could lead the eye away from the main focus which is the bride.

I think the only exception would be in some cultures, red is the color of the brides dress (I believe India). In Asian cultures I know it’s the color of fertility, but I don’t believe a wedding dress color - I would still ask or do more research in that case before wearing red. Otherwise of course. Personally I think black is fully acceptable to wear to a wedding as well - it’s a formal and elegant color.

In Norway wearing red in a wedding means that you have slept with the groom. So here it's a colour to avoid.
