You’re pregnant. People knew you were trying. They ask for an update or if you’re pregnant yet. You don’t want to announce yet. What is your response? I don’t want to straight up lie.. what do I say?

We told our family that we were no longer trying. It wasn’t an actual lie since we were pregnant, so not trying. When we eventually told them, there was no hurt feelings at all, they were just happy for us and respected that we wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while longer than we did with our first baby.

I just said, “one day we will have a baby.” Which isn’t untrue, and it doesn’t confirm or deny.

Just let them know when you are you’re not announcing it until you’re comfortable. People mean well, but it’s probably just annoying you.

I would say I’d rather not talk about it. We purposefully didn’t tell others when we started trying bc I didn’t want people constantly asking for updates (ie my mother in law ughhhh). 18 months later, people were stunned when we shared! But if it came up in the meantime, that’s usually what I said or said I decided to focus on work instead.

My sister (who has no filter) asked me constantly for weeks if I was pregnant. I lied to her for a long time then got fed up and finally just said, "Please stop asking me. Ill tell you when there is something to know."
