Regular Obgyn & specialist?

Question

Hello, looking for some insight. This is my second pregnancy. During my first, I went to my same OBGYN office throughout the pregnancy, with the exception of seeing a specialist one time for the 12-14 week genetic screening (NIPT?). 
I attended the same screening during this pregnancy, and the specialist found two placenta bleeds. They wanted to follow up with me so I scheduled two follow ups, one of which is just two days after an appointment with my regular OBGYN.  I know that I am just getting blood drawn at my regular appointment, no sonogram. I asked my OBGYN if I needed to go to both, as I see it a bit redundant. She said yes. 
Does anyone have experience with this? Do I really need to be seeing two different doctors offices during my entire pregnancy? I work full time and have a toddler, so I really hope not! 
Also to add, I love my OBGYN. She is amazing. But her office is always overbooked. I end up waiting forever, the front office staff are not always the nicest, and they don’t respond quickly to messages. On the other hand, this specialists office has a reaaallllyy nice waiting room, two sonogram machines, and I waited maybe 5 minutes to go back.

I did it with my second and with this one. I have appointments every 2 weeks with my ob and every 3 weeks with mfm. It’s a pain, but if you have something else going on, it’s best to get monitored as closely as you can. Trust me I understand the inconvenience. I have a toddler and I have to drive an hour to drop her off with my dad, drive back to my appt and then do it again to get her. It sucks but it is what it is.

For very busy offices I recommend scheduling for the first appointment of the day. If that isn't available the the first appointment after lunch.  Though sometimes they go late in their lunch and will still leave you waiting.  
Using this strategy they aren't late because of patient care reasons. Some patients take a long time. And sometimes they get backed up with phone calls,  charting, viewing results, etc. So time your appointments for when they'll be "fresh".

I have high risk pregnancies so I see both and it totally fine. 
The plus side is with the specialist you will literally see the bay every visits. 
I’m now 16+4 and I will see the specialist every two weeks until I give birth. Needless to say the office knows me on a first name basis

I see a midwife so I don't even leave my house for prenatal care. She comes to me. And I will have one sonogram. It's your pregnancy and your body if you don't want to do something don't do it. I am a terrible ob patient because I refuse a lot of the tests. So do what feels right to you.
