Cholestasis ???

Question

Had anyone been diagnosed with cholestasis ? If so are you scheduled to deliver early? My OB just drew blood last Friday and said if i do have it she’s sending me for an ultrasound and Im getting induced in 2 weeks (I had just turned 34 weeks) . Friday evening I get a call that my ultrasound is booked for today, could they have gotten the labs back that fast ? I haven’t even gotten a call from her.

I was diagnosed with it during my last pregnancy around 35 weeks but I’d been severely itchy for weeks before diagnosis. I was induced at 38 weeks for that and preeclampsia. My little girl was fine and is a very busy 4 year old now. 
I’ve been itchy during this pregnancy since around 28 weeks and I was tested then. My levels were low but the itching has gotten much worse. I’m having another blood test on Friday and I’ll be 32 weeks. It’s such an irritating condition especially at night. 😩

I’ve been tested for it 3 times, currently waiting on the 4th test. My first test was high, my next 2 were low, but close to high. I started itching again last week, thus this pending test. It’s my understanding that there only a couple labs that run these tests, that’s why they take so long. My results are usually 7-10 days out. If I get another high (I’m almost 32 weeks, my first high I was 24 weeks) then she’ll diagnosis me, refer me to maternal fetal medicine and induce me at 37 weeks.

Your doctor may have ordered an ultrasound before labs came back. it’s also totally possible that they’ve gotten them back already but your doctor or nurse (whoever calls you) hasn’t had enough time to review them completely and call you back about them. It only takes a couple seconds to send an order for an ultrasound, but calling to go over results of a lab is more involved and they might not have been able to get it yet. My office has a lab on site and they can get the results same day depending on how soon in the day they send them down. It’s not the same test, but with my glucose test I had my blood drawn at 4pm and then when I checked my online portal the results were uploaded at 7am the next morning.
