Preterm labor or IU?

Lauren

Hi there! I have asked my dr multiple times and keep getting very vague answers from her, so I’d like a couple personal stories to give me an idea of what’s possible.

I have irritable uterus. I’m 29 weeks along with a little boy. Every time I stand up, I get contractions (never really predictable, but increasing with activity), I have immense pressure in my pelvis, cramping and a sore back.

My dr has told me to limit my activity (nearly to bed rest levels) and given me Procardia to slow the contractions.

When I’m sitting or laying, I have very few contractions. This has gone on for a week now. No blood, no spotting, no water breaking, no mucus plug. Baby is moving a TON.

Everything I can find story-wise is that women who go into preterm labor get steady contractions soon after developing these symptoms. Now that I’m a whole week from these things starting, does that mean we’re likely NOT in preterm labor and it’s just an annoyance until we come to term? I am ready to breathe and relax. My dr keeps saying she won’t check my cervix again for fear of starting labor, but she also won’t tell me I’m NOT in labor. It’s all scary and I’d love some stories from you wonderful moms.

My main questions are:

1) This has been going on a week now- it’s probably not going to develop into preterm labor now, right?

2) If I don’t see blood, broken waters, or have steady and time-able contractions while at rest, I’m doing fine, right?

Thank you so much in advance!
