Went to the ER over the weekend for swelling, pain, itching and bumps on the lips of my vagina. They checked me out and the doctor thought it looked like herpes which I suspected based off of symptoms. So he took swabs and sent it off for testing and gave me anti-vitals in the meantime.

Yesterday I got a positive result back from the swab for HSV-2 and my question is...

I have a follow up visit with my doctor next week and I need to know what questions to ask and if I need the blood test or any other tests or should I go on the swab results solely?

I think that I got it from my current partner but he still needs to be checked. He does get sores on his mouth but says he’s never noticed anything downstairs tho I told him it could be hard to pinpoint. But we’ve been together 17 months now and while I kno it can lay dormant I have a week immune system so it makes sense for it to pop up right away. Then again idk. He’s slept around ALOT before me and admitted he wasn’t always safe and he did get STD testing but I guess this isn’t one they include.

I’m sure it’s herpes based on my symptoms. I don’t believe this is my first OB and it started with what I thought was an in grown hair. I’ve had issues for the last year but my doctor didn’t think anything of it. I did have BV at one point so I feel like she chalked it up to that.
