Thoughts on Cloth Diapers?!?

Question

Has any moms used cloth diapers? How do you clean them when they poop? Lol May be a stupid question but I’m on baby number 3 and never tried cloth diapers. Any tips or advice I’m thinking about trying it out this go round

My sister in law used them for my niece and all I can really say is that her house always smelled like poop and mildew.  The diapers were rinsed and put into a hamper in her attached garage until she had enough to wash a load.  They stunk up the whole house.  The washing process is also several steps.  I’m not trying to discourage you.  There are benefits.  They are better for the environment and much less expensive, but I’m they kind of mom who wants to hear all pros and cons before I make a decision.

I clothed diapered for one and disposable diapered my first. it’s a journey... it’s a lot of washing and drying. Once I got the hang of it, it was great! I would recommend getting a diaper genie or some sort or diaper bin, the sprayer that attached to the toilet and enough diapers! The All in Ones are my favorite! I loved the cute prints and the fact that I was benefiting the earth and saving my coins. However, I hated doing the laundry 😫.

I’m currently cloth diapering my 14mo and am pregnant and plan on doing it with this one as well. It is not very difficult but there is some research do do before starting. More than can be posted in one comment lol. While baby is exclusively bf the poop is water soluble and can go directly into the wash. After that or if you use formula you have to spray the poop off before washing them with a diaper sprayer. Not too difficult but more involved than disposables. It saves a ton of money too!

I admire people who do it. But you have to sanitize them properly and regularly, or you can use a diaper washing service.  It was personally too much for me, especially since I was working, had a 2 story home so I'd have to figure out proper placement on 2 floors, and by the time I stayed home I had multiple kids and it was too much for me to consider. It's probably just a matter of doing a separate load per day and maybe I'm making it more than it really is though.

Cloth diaper exclusively all four children.  Newborn exclusively breast fed poop is water soluble so you just through it in the wash. (You always run a wash with no detergent first and then run the wash cycle again with detergent. This way you are washing in clean water) after solids are introduced, you flush the poop and then wash the diaper. I use a hand bidet (diaper sprayer) hooked up to my toilet to spray the solids off the diaper, then I put it in my diaper pail. When my babies are big enough to sit up on their own and having solid poops, and I notice their poop face, I take off their diaper, and sit them on a potty seat on the toilet and let them poop in the toilet. This makes potty training later so much easier and earlier.
