Broke up because of his dogs

Just wondering if anybody has any experience on being in a relationship with somebody that has dogs. I have been with a wonderful man for the past 6 months. But last night I ended it because he has 2 huge dogs. They are lovely dogs and I don't mean any offence to dog lovers out there. But I just can never see myself moving in with him or having kids with him because I would be too scared about the dogs harming my child. I have a 2 year old boy from a previous relationship. Did I do the right thing? It seems like such a stupid reason to break up. There are no boundaries with the dogs. They sit and stare at my while I am eating in his house. They are practically on my lap. They are allowed to lick his plate after they eat which really disgusts me. I don't mean to sound like a terrible person but I never had dogs in my life and I am quite scared of them. They are free to roam the house. There is dog hair everywhere. You cannot sit on his sofa without being absolutely covered in hair. If I moved in with him or had a child with him I would live in fear everyday worrying about my kids. They are huge. The child wouldn't stand a chance if the dog turned. Am I so bad for this?? Sorry to all the dog lovers out there. I could really do with some advice. I feel like shit today. xxx
