Is my ceiling falling in?!

I’m assuming the that the landlord already knew about this bad ceiling & just painted over it... should I be sleeping in here?? How long does it take for a ceiling to fall in?? Also what are my rights pertaining to this?? She’s about to sell this building&  I don’t think the new buyer has any idea all the problems they’re about to get themselves into..

This happened to my mom. It was like that for like a couple weeks, then one day it literally came crashing down on her head. She was fine other than a big bruise on her arm because she was sitting on her bed on the phone. But if she was asleep it literally would’ve hit her in the face & could’ve really really hurt her. Don’t sleep under it. Tell your landlord & if they don’t do anything I’d be looking for a new place. Def not safe

I would guess there was water damage and they patched it half assedly. Did you let your landlord know of the crack? I personally wouldn’t feel safe sleeping there but Idk how houses are built/how they hold up.
