Yeast or bacteria infection

I recently had a insane itch down there mind you is the first time this EVER happened to be then I started with the thick white discharge so I figured it was a yeast infection a couple days pass and I got my period it lasted 4 days . I wasn’t sure if I was able to use over the counter medication to treat the yeast while being on my period . . . . So my period ended and now there no discharge no smell , but the itch comes and goes , do you think it could of ended becoming a bacterial vaginosis . I bought the monistat 7 but haven’t use it
