Help with milk blister 😭
I’ve been looking for advice on older posts but can’t find what I’m looking for...
I’ve had a milk blister on my right nipple for almost 2 weeks now and when I saw my lactation consultant she gave me packaged sterile 25G needles and told me to just “try to treat them” at home. No instructions on how to/what to do. She just shrugged and said it should go away in 48 hours so this was just a back up plan. I’m in pain still 2 weeks later and wanted it to go away so yesterday I got desperate and just poked couple holes where the milk blister is. A little blood came out and milk did too but after couple pumping sessions it’s still there!
Is the bleeding normal? Did I do it wrong? Is it normal for milk blisters to last this long? I’m making sure I’m pumping correctly, not too long with the breast shields centered and haven’t breastfed on the right side since it hurts so much. (The blister first happened because I tried breastfeeding without a nipple shield after my LO’s tongue tie was snipped.) Should I wait longer for it to resolve on its own? Please help if you have any info and have gone through this!!! 😭
