Teaching reading/ sight words

BreAnna

I tried finding a homeschool group on here, but there aren't really any (I found one with just 2 members), but I figured some 3rd time mom's on here may have already been through this with one or both of their older kiddos. I taught my daughter to read phonetically, and she has a pretty good grasp on it now, so I would like to start teaching her some sight words, starting with a few that she already sees a lot in her daily reading. How do I teach her to see the word and not just the letters? I picked a few words and kept them in order and sang them while pointing to each one, and she picked it up right away. She can even say them without the tune while pointing if they are in order or point to the ones I call out in order. Today she did them when I called them out backwards (said, was, the, a. a, the, was, said.), But if I mix them up (was, a, said, the) she just randomly guesses. She also doesn't notice them in her stories. I am open to any advice or constructive criticism ♥️ Just hoping someone here has some insight.
