I was born with a different name and I wanted to change it back to what it was. This one girl was telling me that my name I changed it back to (the one I was born with) isn’t my name, my name is the one I grew up with and to stop ‘lying’. I wasn’t comfortable with my name changing growing up and I feel like my true identity has been took from me so I wanted it back.

If you’ve changed your name then whatever you changed it to is your name. It’s not lying, people are allowed to change their names and do all the time. 
And really we can have more than one name. There’s legal names, nicknames, pen names, online handles. Everywhere I go on the internet I am Crystal Phoenix. Sometimes I have to use special characters because there are other, but there are also at least 14 other people who have the same legal name as me. And no one but my mother calls me by my name, even she only calls me “Jessica” occasionally (mostly when I’m in trouble😅). My name is “Jessi” to everyone. Even in the computer system at my work I am “Jessi” on everything except the legal documents attached to my work profile. 
When I was in school I had a friend called Devon. That’s how I knew them, until it came up during roll call in a class that there was an unknown “Stephanie” in our group. Turns out Devon is Stephanie, and we all supported making sure the teacher knew that it’s not Stephanie - it’s Devon. We respect what they wish to be called and it’s no big deal.
