Why are people sooo negative!?!

Yesterday,  I told my mom I was setting up a photo to announce my pregnancy. I posted it on fb as thousands of people do.
She calls me this morning and asks did i say i was doing announcement on fb and i told her yes..  she says, i think that's a terrible idea!
Umm, okay...why?
"Because I think announcing that on Facebook is childish and immature"
Meanwhile,  I just spent an entire night before in the ER due to a bleed and definitely dont need anyone's negativity or stress.
Why would you even call and wake me up to say all that?
I'm super annoyed.

Definitely not immature to post on Facebook, like you said many do, it's a fun way to share, and yours is very tasteful. I'm sorry she's being negative hopefully you get lots of love from friends on your post!

Like yeah obvs am that’s why I telling you can you not just be happy for me and keep your judgements to yourself? My moms so toxic and every time we talk I’m reminded why we shouldn’t.

It's not childish.  That's how the modern world anounces pregnancy.  Sounds like she's stuck in the past.  Plus this is YOUR baby, and you can announce any way you see fit.

Does your mom expect you to send a paper announcement to every cousin and old college friend? That would just be... weird. Facebook is the appropriate place.

This a normal thing that millions of people do! My mom does the same exact shit. I had a sub chronic hemorrhage at 10 weeks and ended up having to tell my mom earlier instead of later like I had originally planned. Instead of checking in with me at the follow up appointment she asked me if she could share the news that she was going to be a grandmother. When I told her ‘no’ she threw a fit and told me I should thankful she even had the courtesy of asking me. Which I responded that it’s none of her business to tell anyone in the first place so I don’t have to be thankful about that at all. Lol. Anyway! Sorry for the rant. But, I understand this all too well. If you ever need to chat or vent, I’m all ears! ❤️
