Husband calling my son stupid...

We have a 3 yr old boy and an almost 2yr old girl. He’s had a few rages this year over stressful situations where my husband is under pressure and breaking things. He’ll throw something out of anger and break it.

And my son was crying over a toy at home and my husband says “we have the stupidest boy” with such an irritated face.

He’s like, we just need to get these kids to their room for bed now.

(They both just got done having their bath and they want to play)

I told him, “you know what? You go to the room and go to bed or go outside and cool off!” I rolled my eyes and stormed away to get my kids ready for bed.

He’s generally a nice sweet guy but his patience lately is just a off!! What do I do? What do I say to him? Do I need to step it up and tell him off if I need to?? I won’t tolerate this violence. He’s never been violent like this! When he’s broken things it wasn’t in front of the kids but in front of me and a few times it almost brought me to tears because it’s a horrible feeling to see a man act this way in front of you.
