Contractions and bloody show

I’ve been having contractions since yesterday night, they have stayed around 5-8 minutes apart I went to the hospital and I was only 2cm and 70 effaced. Now a few hours later I had my bloody show. Contractions still aren’t close enough but they are pretty strong. Just wondering if I should just wait for my water to break or wait for my contractions to get closer and then go in? I’m 40w+3D
