Naps?!?

Where are you babies napping? And for how long? My guy will not nap longer than 15 minutes! 😖

Answer

We usually do 2 naps. He’ll sleep 45min -1hr in the morning. The afternoon nap is usually 2 hours.  If one of the naps gets messed up, I’ll let him take a 15 or 20 min nap in the late evening to get him to make it to bedtime if he shows sleepy cues.

All naps in bassinet. I’m going to start working on stretching wake times as he is 7 months and naps are starting to shorten and night sleep is getting worse. I think he may need to drop the third nap if we can stretch wake times

Sleeps 7-630 (with 2 overnight feeds that I’m trying to wean) then naps 9-1030, 1230-2 and 4-430 (I wake him up at 430, he would happily keep sleeping!). Sleeps in his cot in his own room, very very dark with white noise.

I'm busy reading Lucy Wolfe The sleep solution and trying this with my little guy. Currently his naps are only 30 to 40 minutes and he wakes up super tired. Plus his nighttime sleep has been really bad for the past month. This is the third night we are using the method from the book and its stressful but just hanging in there and hoping we start to see some results soon. Also its not crying it out as I would never manage that.

Claire was napping a max of 30 minutes until we started sleep training. Now she’s napping an hour or longer almost every nap. I honestly didn’t think it was possible. I thought she just hated naps because she slept well at night. But sleep training has been a game changer. We’re doing a modified Ferber method. 
I recommend trying it for a few naps at least and seeing how it goes. It worked for Claire almost immediately, but I realize we could have gotten lucky.

She does all naps in her crib. Typically 45-50 mins about 3 times a day. She will be 7mon next Monday.

Ella was only napping for 20-30 minutes at a time until we found out she prefers to sleep on her belly 🙃 Once we figured that out, she has been taking hour+ long naps! She usually takes at least 2, some times three. Morning one is usually around 9:30ish, second one is between 12:30-1 and if she takes a third one it is usually around 4:30 and I make sure it’s short so she will sleep at night. We do blackout curtains and white noise in her room. She loves ocean wave sounds and they usually put her to sleep within 5-10 minutes!

3 naps. We try for the crib but mostly on me or in a wrap. First nap is the shortest 20-30 min, then the other two are usually 1hr+.

Everett naps 4-5 times a day for like 45-90 min each time, but I know that’s abnormal. I dunno what makes him a good napper/sleeper other than that he’s huge so maybe he’s tired from growing. I do blackout curtains and white noise for sleep and naps, all in the crib. Also we’ve noticed taking him outdoors for fresh air really helps with naps and sleep. He doesn’t care for sleeping elsewhere, so if we are running errands he just skips a nap.
