Falling while pregnant
With my first pregnancy in 2017 I fell in the first trimester on my hip. Baby and I were both fine and I had no side effects from the fall. I lost that baby (stillbirth) at 20 weeks, very unrelated to the fall.
I’m now 21 weeks on Thursday with my rainbow baby. I fell twice in the first trimester, slipped the first time, tripped the second time. Baby was fine. Then I slipped and fell pretty hard at 19 weeks, on my butt. I had cramping after and called the triage nurse line and they advised me to go to the ER. The ultrasound showed all was good with the baby and I had no internal bleeding. I did have a sprained ankle and some bruises.
The next two days I had a lot of anxiety due to reduced fetal movement. After losing my first baby at 20 weeks (though it was unrelated to a fall) it’s all I could think about. Turns out, baby just moves a lot more when I’m at work because of all the commotion and noise (I’m a nanny to 4 boys) and at home it’s quieter so baby isn’t as active. Once I went back to work, baby was back to moving around a lot.
Has anyone else experienced falling while pregnant? Did you have to go to the ER? We’re you concerned even after seeing your baby was fine?
