week 8 ultrasound, no fetal pole

Hi, During my first visit, doctor could not see fetal pole and told that it seemed that baby didn't grow after week 6. I was asked to have followup ultrasound after a week and was oferred 3 options..D&C, pills or let it happen naturally. I lost all the hopes on the day but now i am thinking to atleast get my hcg stats as i hve heard lots of misdiagnosed miscarriges. Anyone with such experience who can share some thoughts?
