Contractions?

How can you tell that you are having a contraction or if it just hurts when the baby moves/kicks?  I’m 38 weeks and 3 days now

Contractions and kicks aren’t similar at all in my experience. Contractions developed a pattern and became timeable and didn’t go away they just got more intense as the night went on.

My contractions felt like REALLY bad stomach cramps that didn't go away.  As soon as one ended, another started, so it was almost continuous.

Consistency and intensity. If your belly gets tight and stays that way for around a minute and you can time them...like they come every 5-10 mins. There are contraction timer apps too :)
