Baby only taking 45 min naps
My baby girl is 14 weeks old and cannot seem to get past the 45 minute sleep cycle on a regular basis. I follow the same routine everyday and there are some days she will actually take a 2-hour nap, but this is once in awhile and not the norm and I can't figure out why. She luckily sleeps through the night (mostly), but I think it's only due to exhaustion from not getting enough sleep during the day. I have read countless articles on this, prevention of an overtired baby, etc. but none of them have any suggestions for what to do when you do everything right and it still fails.
We have a sleep routine and put her down awake, and she will fall asleep within mins if not immediately, and currently use a white noise machine, swaddle sleep sack, and pacifier.
45 minutes later she's awake and crying because she's still tired. I usually rock her and she'll go back to sleep, but then good luck trying to lay her back down in the crib because she'll awake almost instantly (whether I hold her for a few mins or 20+). When she really can't get back to sleep, I'll let her use me as a pacifier and then same thing with trying to put her down and leave the room.
It breaks my heart seeing her upset because she wants to sleep but can't. I feel like I've tried everything I could find and think of and really want to help her rest better during the day. I don't know what else I can incorporate into her nap routine to help her take more than a 45 minute nap.
Is this just normal for her age and she'll grow out of it?
Any suggestions on what has helped you break the 45 minute nap cycle would be greatly appreciated!
