My plant soil has bugs?!

I got a new soil for an indoor plant I have and after a while I noticed nats coming from the soil. There’s a good amount of them after I water it so I know it’s coming from that. Is this suppose to happen? I’m going to look into a new soil I was just wondering is anyone knew why this happened?

Those are fungus gnats. They are a pest and annoying but dont do much harm. I seem to always be fighting those stupid things. They lay eggs in the top inch or so of soil. They like a moist environment. The best thing you can do is not let them have that environment to reproduce. Don’t over water your plant and try bottom watering. You can also try misquote bits. The larvae will eat the bits and die. Let me know if you have other questions and maybe I can help. What type plant do you have?

It’s usually from the moisture . I regrow clippings from my plants and I usually put them in a small vase or something with just water and if I don’t change the water and what not they get those little nat looking bugs . I would deff change your plants soil . Also look up what kind of plant it is and how often you should change the soil . Most tend to be every 6 months ! I had an ant infestation in my house plants the one year . Had to get rid of them all . Had about 20 house plants too 😭😭 hopefully you’ll figure it out and it’ll be saved !!
