Only 20 wk ultrasound?!

Hi ladies! I was just wondering if anyone else is only getting one ultrasound at 20 weeks? I don't know anyone else that has to wait that long for an ultrasound and I feel so cheated! I guess I'm just looking for some support 😬 I just wish I could have a picture of my baby, I feel like I could connect to them better

I had an US at 10wk (So they could check for heartbeat- it was my 1st appt.) and then we’ll have an anatomy scan at 20wk. & won’t have any more, unless there seems to be issue. I do understand wanting to see something, but in all honesty, the 10wk scab really shows nothing. It is still a little blob & didn’t really help me “bond.” I was just thankful to know it was alive. My dr even said “when you come back for your 20wk, you’ll be blown away by how much has changed and you’ll actually see a baby!” So I don’t think you’re missing out too much.

My dr is only doing one at 20 weeks, I went to a place called “ hey baby” to get one done though.. I couldn’t wait that long

I know many people who only had a 12 week and 20 week but never just a 20 week. Is it a doctor thing or insurance thing? I know some people’s insurance limit how many scans to get since there are only really 1 or 2 that are truly necessary. I wouldn’t stress about it. If you are feeling good, you should be fine. My guess is that your doctor will at least measure heartbeat at 12 and 16 weeks?

Where are you? My doctor gives at least three and usually more..and you really just have to ask for another and with our insurance it’s just a copay to get an extra one. I got one for “confirmation” at 8w2d (most doctors don’t do confirmation anymore and just see you after 6 weeks), I’ll get one at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan and another at around 32-35 weeks. My last pregnancy I had all of the usual ones and then at 36 weeks I started getting 2 a week because my daughter was drinking all her amniotic fluid..And we still have no idea where if was going. Lol private scans are a little price (average for less than 15 weeks is around $150 where I am) but totally worth it if your doctor won’t do one til 20 weeks! I’d be a nervous wreck!

Do you live in the US?? I’ve never heard of that. I  have a friend who did this as a personal choice but I get an ultrasound every 4 weeks at my exam. 😔 I’m so sorry. That’s so frustrating.

My first pregnancy I only got one and I didn’t think much of it at the time. Now I’m pregnant with my second and we live somewhere else and I’m getting at least 2 (10 weeks and 20 weeks) plus we will get a private 3D/4D scan at like 28 weeks. I think an ultrasound in early pregnancy is super important. Lots of things can be diagnosed at an early ultrasound such as blighted ovum, missed miscarriage, ectopic, and so on.

I just found out at my 11 week zoom appt that my insurance only covers 1 ultrasound also and my ob felt like it was best to choose the 20 week anatomy scan as my 1 ultrasound. I definitely feel cheated, but I scheduled a private scan for 15 weeks so dad and sister can see the baby and hear the heartbeat too. 
We pay all this money for deductibles and insurance and they only allow us 1 ultrasound, I think it’s crap. I’ll be voicing my opinion to my benefits team when it’s time to choose new insurance. Lol

I had one during my last pregnancy. This time, I’m getting 2 with my doc because I don’t know
Exactly when my last period was supposed to be, but I got a private scan done for $50. 🤷🏻‍♀️
