Could it be twins??

Question

Ok so I went to my first appointment at 8w and the doc said looks like it was going to be twins since she saw two sacks, but then she said looks like it’s actually fluid filled only. Could there be another fetus developing and it was just to early or is it just fluid?? Hoping for twins!!

Are you 8 weeks? By that stage, and probably even much earlier (sometime after 6 weeks) you would see a baby and a heartbeat if there was going to be one. It sounds like there may have been 2 sacs, but only one developed. Vanishing twin syndrome is quite common unfortunately. Good luck with your pregnancy.

By 8 weeks it’s very unlikely that a second baby would be mistaken for a fluid filled sac. By 6 weeks, most people can see baby, yolk sac and heartbeat all within the gestational sac.
