Did/are you writing a birth plan?

I’m planning on writing one. Nothing big just a few key points on the most important things. Let me know if you wrote one and what was on it!

I think it’s very important to tell what you want as a lot of times there is no time for you to concentrate on stuff like that. I did with my last one from birthplanner.me but now you have to pay for it.

It’s really helpful. I haven’t finished it yet but def will have one. 
My last labour was awesome with dimmed lights, enough time, no students/extra people other then the midwife and my husband. And it’s the small little things, like allowing you to move, knowing if you want to be medicated, advising you different options to birth, giving you tome after, delay cord clamping, etc...

No, because you’re really not going to care when you’re in hard labor shitting yourself. This is my fourth, I’ve never had a birth plan, but get the kid out.
Maybe with the first one I was a bit uptight with getting things done, now I just really don’t care, I’ll yell at the nurses to get out, tell them to get ready to catch the baby because I’m not going to stop pushing, but writing something down isn’t something anyone really cares about.

Yes. It's my third, and though births aren't predictable at all it's still nice to have a nice guideline of what you're comfortable with with. I go from preferred birth and take all the steps down to emergency csection, including after birth. Knowing what your hospital has available and what exactly their procedures are is extremely helpful. 
°no IV port. 
°Gas for pain management, No epidural at all
°if I'm in the bath, they will bring out the water proof monitor. I'm NOT getting out. 
°unless there is an emergency medical need, baby will be placed on me immediately, not wiped off and no blanket in between. (You'd think skin-to-skin is a no brainier) 
°no pitocin after birth unless I'm at 500ml of blood loss with low BP. 
°no manually breaking my water. 
°if csection is needed, I'll be put under. (Approved by my Dr)

My hospital wanted one from every kom who knew they would deliver there just incase there was a spiritual or religious request or specific medical need. My birth plan was:
1-healthy baby born
2- healthy mom after
3- want to breastfeed.
That was it haha. With labor being so unpredictable I didn't see the point of making a super detailed plan and those were the only things I really cared about. If you do write out a plan just be ok with changes is all I can say. I know friends who have written crazy detailed and specific plans then thought the birth process was ruined because changes had to happen. So have a plan but know it is not set in stone. No matter what good luck and hope you have ana amazing labor!!

I did because i am a vbac candidate and wanted no mistakes in where i stood on certain things! I included pain relief, induction methods, birth preferences, after birth, etc. I also made one for an emergency csection just in case too

I didn’t. I didn’t want to have a strict game plan and then be upset when something didn’t go the way I thought it was going to go. It was much easier for me to go with the flow.

The hospital were delivering at has a basic one they ask to be filled out that has ideal wishes but I just put down so whatever necessary for a healthy baby.

Nope. We set up a birthday plan with the midwives knowing that it's always subject to change. For example we wanted an all natural birth. No epidural, no induction. Immediate Kangaroo care, delayed cord clamping, no circumcision, baby stays with me. Well I labored for 48 hours at home. Was admitted at 5am on the 10th of December. That was 47 hours. My labor ended up stalling. So they wanted to break my waters aka induce. So we got an epidural because that raised my chance of repeat c-section. It failed twice. Broke my waters at 9pm right after the epidural. They also gave my low dose pitocin at this time as well. Epidural failed, they "fixed" it. Baby dropped heart rate and maintained in the 80s 5 minutes later. They flipped me around it failed again. We did not get it fixed again. Delivered him at 11:31pm after student midwife said she thought we'd roll over into the next day 🤣 I wasn't fully dilated but was at like a 9.5 and he was coming lmao they manually opened me the rest of the way. Slight tear but everyone is doing good :)

I did with my son, but it was a joke... I got nothing I wanted for my labor and delivery because my son has his own plans. It was more of a very light guideline if things were to go my way.
