Question

If you want to advocate for yourself to allow your person to be in the ultrasound with you... please do! And please feel free to use this letter to send to your practice or their administrators.

He is not allowed at ultrasounds and we don’t make a big deal about it. It’s necessary to keep the other patients, doctors, nurses, and other staff as safe as possible. There are worse things in the world than him not being at an ultrasound, like hundreds of thousands of people dying from Covid because people act selfishly and refuse to take this seriously.

If the clinic has determined that the risk of having multiple people in at a time is too high, a letter like this is not going to convince them. They are fully aware of what people are missing out on, but they’re more concerned about the increase in infection risk to their staff and other expectant mother. If their staff goes down, the clinic may have extremely limited functionality to see anyone, at all. My RE didn’t accept anyone other than the patients, but they were the best in town, so I accepted that. You can seek a different provider if the policy doesn’t work for you.

This is honestly the least concerning OB restriction to me. My concern is children being banned from appointments all together so mothers are having to choose going without prenatal care or having to find inadequate childcare

As long as my husband is aloud at the hospital with me while I’m having our baby, that is all the truly matters to me. I rather him and other husbands not come to appts to lower the risk

My husband wasn’t allowed in when I had a miscarriage, I didn’t complain because it wasn’t just my health that matters. People really need to get over themselves and start thinking about other people as well.

Shoot. I forgot how people in this app can’t let something go even if they disagree with it. Can’t even show some grace to a mom who just gave birth to her baby who DIED in her belly from a completely unprevantable umbilical cord accident. 😭 😭 😭 
FYI if the mom has Covid... the dad probably does too. So it doesn’t really make a difference to have 2 of them there. Especially if masking is supposed to protect. And if some places are doing it and others aren’t... still doesn’t make sense.

But I doubt a generic letter from the internet will change office policies and I wouldn’t want to be “one of those” & stress staff out or make them feel bad for something that’s not their fault. They just wanna be safe

I was just trying to help if there is a mom out there going through pregnancy after loss. Unless you’ve had a traumatic loss you don’t know how hard it is to be in that office. Your body literally has a visceral negative reaction.  And it doesn’t feel good. I was just trying to help...

I definitely see the big picture. But i also see both sides. Allowing only the mothers in, also keeps the other mothers more safe from being exposed to COVID. More people the more likely you can be exposed.
