3 weeks postpartum itchy vagina normal?

Kristen

I'm 3 weeks postpartum, I had a vaginal delivery and needed vaccum assistance due to his heart rate going down. I ended up getting a 2nd degree tear. I also had previous hemmoroids prior to pregnancy got worse at end of pregnancy and even worse after delivery. My bleeding has almost stopped I'm at the point now where it's essitnailly just a bit of light brown discharge. But from about after a week I noticed I'm itchy but not where is think my stitches are it feels like a yeast infection but not one that is imbarable it almost feels itchy at random times or when wiping and after I wake up but isn't something that I'm constantly needing to itch but it's itchy almost around my vagina hole and up by my clitoris sometimes when wiping too.. I would think the healing or itchy would be closer to my but because that's sort of where I thought the stitches are.. I also smell a bit down there nothing that is extrmemlty terrible or fishy but definitly a smell I notice when I sit in a certain way or again when I wake up. I've been wearing pads the entire time switching from bigger to smaller once the bleeding changed and I'm wondering if this itch and smell is just from all that's gone on in the past three weeks sitting with pads on, sweating at night and hormones. I don't have a fever and tbh I try to look at my stitches but I can't really see anything quite noticible so I don't even know if they've dissolved yet or not. But I'm just wondering if this has happened to any other momma's. I've tried googling it but I can't find a straight answer and when I mentioned it to both midwife and doctor they didn't really say it's normal but they also didn't really probe into it at all or prescribee anything so I kinda feel like I'm just in the dark about it. When I'm not wearing a pad i find it feels alot less itchy or annyoed but also don't want to not wear one when I've still got some discharge. blah. I'm also breastfeeding if that means anything

Lol okay thank you! I just thought that maybe because it didn't feel where my stitches was that maybe it wasn't but it also doesn't feel to abnormal either considering birth is a pretty big thing for vaginas to go through lol

My stitches got itchy as they healed as well. I put ground oatmeal in my sitz bath a few times a day and that really helped.

I had a 2nd degree as well and had some stitches inside. Could also just be itchy from postpartum vaginal dryness. Either way the oatmeal will help!

The thing is it doesn't really feel like the stitches themselves are itchy it feels like it's just in my vagina. I don't know if the stitches are in there and that's what I'm feeling ?
