Mood disorders
Can anyone with a mood disorder please comment and give me a bit of insight to how it all works, particularly when it’s unmanaged? :(
The guy I’m seeing doesn’t really know what mood disorder he has because doctors haven’t been able to diagnose him, but growing up he was surrounded with a lot of domestic violence between his Mum and her partner at the time (not his Dad) & because of the traumas the doctors know the part in his brain that helps you control emotions is damaged. As he has said, if he feels a way about something there is no way to change his mind, he will do it in his own time. I mean the DV was so bad he got a payout. I honestly didn’t know that was a thing. He has been through so much, not just with his Mum but also with his Dad as he was high up in a bikie club and very much surrounded by hard heads, violence, and he told me that as a kid he saw someone get murdered (he said he’d never told anyone that).
But he also suffers with depression, as I’m sure this would kind of coincide with a mood disorder, that hasn’t been managed very well with drinking, drug use and taking anti-depressants incorrectly (missing a day here and there or not getting a new box in time so going days without).
Needless to say, because of this things have been very rocky with us and he’s moving soon so he’s basically just cutting me off. It is really hard because I felt so passionately that he did love me, as he told me he did, and I felt so wanted in his life. He is a big gentle giant w/ women & treats me with so much love and respect. Though with these things he has his moments where he distances himself, I have always felt very secure and been very patient. But again he hadn’t been taking his meds properly this last month & his mood has switched so I have been out on the back burner and don’t feel quite so secure. I just want to know I guess that when someone has a low due to a mood disorder/depression it doesn’t mean someone doesn’t love you anymore, just that their mind makes them forget that they do? ):
