Is it wrong to not get my partner anything for Valentine’s Day?

Prior to Valentine’s Day I told him I didn’t want to do any gifts, I don’t think Valentine’s is about giving your significant others gifts. I just want to spend time with him, dinner is more than enough. He’s agreeing but I can’t help but feel like he’s getting me something. This is our first Valentine’s together so I’m not sure how it comes off? Even though we talked about it.. if he gets me something and I only got him a card with a Starbucks gift card, is that tacky?

Edit- I got him the gift card just in case tbh. I have a strong feeling he’s going to get me something. But I’ve been telling him I don’t want anything at all and I never want that day to be about gifts
