Should I be worried ?

I am 27w3d. Before pregnancy, I was told I was anemic but I haven’t gotten the bloodwork repeated recently. I asked my OB if it was safe to take my iron still but he told me that my prenatal should cover it. The past two days especially, I notice that I feel dizzy a lot, which Glow says is normal. But it’s like any time I move around too much, too fast, or (weirdly enough) tired or stressed, I get lightheaded. Like earlier, I was stressed bc I was having a Braxton hicks so I was trying to flip (I sleep on my stomach) and I felt really lightheaded. I had to close my eyes to calm it. Also baby has been less active since that started.

You don’t have to be worried. But definitely start talking an iron supplement on top of your prenatal vitamin. Yes prenatals have iron but if they were already suspicious of you having anemia then you should take the supplement. Lightheadedness and dizzy are classic signs of low iron.

I take a prenatal plus an iron pill, it’s the only way I can somewhat keep my iron up! My doctor recommended for me to take that over the prenatal with iron it because it doesn’t have enough if you have anemia.

I would take the iron until you know what your levels are. The 28 week prenatal blood work includes CBC which will tel you your iron levels and hemoglobin levels.

I would take an iron supplement. It won’t hurt and some doctors recommended it If you’re known to have anemia. Also it will be good to take it now to prepare for birth when you’ll lose blood
