Anxiety about solids
So i don't really have anybody to talk to and you guys are always so supportive. I've been having such bad anxiety about starting solids for my son who is 8 ½ months. I know people do blw way earlier and I think that's great but I just couldn't do it. I'm so afraid of him choking. He has a tendency to try to shove everything into his mouth. I gave him one of those teething wheels and he shoved the whole thing in and started coughing/gagging. And I know that's how they learn but it gives me a heart attack. He did the same thing when I tried to give him a piece of banana. However, he does excellent with purees, loves all of them.
It seems irrational as all babies learn to eat and this is a natural part of learning. I'm also a nurse who is cpr/bls certified and has done the actual heimlich on patients before. I feel like I'm putting my baby behind because of my anxiety about it.
Anyone else experiencing this and how do I get over it? Any advice welcome!
