Idk which group to post it so I’m just gonna post in the rant group cause it seems like it’s more appropriate there..

I’m sure most of you guys are aware of Kendall Jenner starting her tequila brand 818 tequila. She has faced backlash over it for cultural appropriation. I am a Mexican American & honestly, IDC if she started a tequila brand. Many celebrities have done it before. However, what annoys me is what she named it.. 818. That is the area code for the San Fernando Valley in the LA county. This girl legit has not done absolutely anything for the community she is profiting off. I am a San Fernando Valley native & everyone I have spoken to about this has the same opinion, even my husband who was born in LA. The majority of residents who live here are Latino, working class & low income. She’s in the part where it’s more fancy. Danny Trejo also lives in the valley (about 5-7 minutes away from me) & has actually contributed more than she has. So it’s the fact that all of a sudden she wants to represent the 818 to benefit herself but could give two shits about her community.
