Only 2 ultrasounds for 9 months?!

Question

This is my first pregnancy. I was just informed by the OB that I will only receive two ultrasounds, one to confirm pregnancy and how far along I am (already done) and I have one more at 20 weeks to see the sex of the baby. 
Is this normal or do I need a new doctor??? How are they supposed to know if baby is the right size and such.

Totally normal. My midwife only does one ultrasound for the entire pregnancy at 20 weeks unless mom is high risk or doesn’t know their LMP or ovulation date for dating purposes.
Some research indicates that the fewer ultrasounds you have the better as they may not be completely risk free and can cause heating of cells. The benefits of multiple ultrasounds outweigh the risks when mom is high risk or there’s a problem, but otherwise it’s best to limit the number of scans you have done.

That's normal. They don't need to monitor how the baby grows unless a problem was found prior. You only need growth scans if your bump measures small or there's a legit medical reason. Numerous scans are unnecessary.

I believe that’s normal for healthy pregnancies. I have high blood pressure and a shortened cervix so I have to get a bunch to make sure baby is growing on track and that baby won’t come prematurely.

My first had issues so when my second came along they did an US just about every time I came in. I ended up with 50 us photos. I loved it the second time cause there was nothing wrong with him like with the first so I enjoyed having a ton of photos. It does seem like very few but I think at my dr they only do 3 normally

I only had two with my daugther who is now four so yeah 2 is normal and not like cut back because of coucd or anything
