Declining cervical exam “required” by hospital for admission?

Heather

Has anyone ever declined the cervical exam that the hospital requires for admission? Interested to hear how that went or if anyone’s hospital didn’t require it. My understanding is that some hospitals position it as a requirement (you have to be 3 or 4 cm before being admitted) but legally they can’t actual require it because you’re allowed to decline anything and they can’t refuse care.

Or any mamas out there that refused something else the hospital positioned as required?

There are plenty of discussion topics on here of the pros and cons of cervical checks and when to do them and when not to so I’m not trying to restart that conversation. I’m more interested in the experience of mamas who effectively declined hospital admissions checks (or other hospital standards). Was it successful? Advise for being successful? Positive or negative experience? How did staff respond?
