I’ve read BV is associated with preterm labor and low birth weight, but that metronidazole is also associated with preterm labor and birth defects so what do I do here?

I am almost positive I have BV, I somehow get it all the time which is terrible. I had it in September and now have the exact same tell-tale symptoms. I’m 23 weeks pregnant and have been researching BV and metronidazole during pregnancy and it seems neither option is great. I’ve called my doctor but his nurses haven’t gotten back to me so thought I’d reach out here and see if anyone has had experience with BV and treatment with metronidazole during pregnancy.

I hear ya, mama! I actually get BV quite often myself - joys of being sensitive!! My midwife had prescribed me Metronidazole a few times throughout my pregnancy, the gel insert. You should be okay! She also suggested boric acid suppositories to limit my chances of getting it so often. Seemed to help a little bit. Good luck!

I got bv at around 25 weeks with both pregnancies and I had to take that pill both times. No bad effects.
