Birth Control Conundrum

Christina

Hi ladies!

I am 32 years old, currently single (and have been for going on two years now!) and I stopped my birth control roughly two months ago after my MD did not refill it. I just figured I’d give myself a break since I’ve been on it since I was 17!

Well, I have spotted a couple of times but have yet to start an actual period. But that’s not even my main issue, I have since read a few articles that say that birth control can reduce your risk for certain cancers! So now I’m thinking that I need to get back on it.

What are your thoughts? My appointment with my Gyn isn’t until April so I have time. I also have a “condition” called Ectropion where the cells from the uterus grow out onto the cervix. My Gyn says it’s not a problem unless I’m having pain or bleeding. But I have bled literally every time I had sex in the last 4 years or more. She says that’s the ectropion and unless it’s truly an issue with me personally, we can let it be as it’s not harming anything and my Pap smears have always been normal. I wonder if that will go away now that I’m off BC??

I was taking the Levonestr... something, the kind that only gives you a period every three months.

Thank you!! :)
