How long can you go past due date?

Ive been thinking what if i go past my due date and get to 42 weeks. That really scares me. Has anybody gone past 42 weeks ? Is that even safe? And if the baby doesnt want to come do they induce you ?

I had my youngest at 41+6. Here they don't let you go longer than 10-14 days over the due date. All depending on how you and baby are doing.

it depends on your doctor, some dont take the risk of your placenta deteriorating or your baby passing meconium

I had my prenatal care with midwives. I had an appointment on the day of my due date which was a Wednesday. They said if I didn't go into labor over the weekend that they wanted me back in on Monday or Tuesday to do a sweep or other methods of getting things going.  Thankfully I went into labor early Friday morning and had her early Saturday.

Most will set up an induction date when you hit 40 weeks. I have read some tragic stories from mothers that insisted on waiting past 41 weeks, so i would not recommend that if doctor wants to induce

I found out I was pregnant super late(somewhere th3ord trimester!) with my daughter because of quite a few medical problems and multiple forms of BC. They didn't quite know when my due date should have been and just had to let me go. They ended up determining that she was 42 weeks and 5 days once I delivered her due to the calcification of the placenta. If it gets too calcified it can block all the blood to the baby so that's why they generally don't want anyone going too late.

You can go to 43 but its harder to find a provider that will let you go that far. Most are okay with you going to about 41 but then they usually recommend some medical intervention like induction or a csection. You can push back until youre 42 weeks but anything past that poses more of a risk to your baby

Some doctors won’t even let you get to 42wks. Before I hit 40weeks my doctor schedule me for induction at 40w5d just in case I went that far. When I asked to wait, I was told the placenta gets weaker and weaker so it’s best to induce.
