What is gbs???

Question

So I got the test for gbs and it came back positive. Has anybody else had this and what did they do? Could I be induced still at 39 weeks or would it be better to wait?

Your birth does not change whatsoever!  The only difference is that they don't want you to labor at home until the very end because they'll add antibiotics to your IV. You can still get induced, have a natural birth etc.  It's pretty common which is why they test everyone.

Completely normal. It's a bacteria that lives in th re birth canal and can pass to baby. You need to go to the hospital first signs of labor so they can put you on antibiotics. Your dr should go over this with you in better detail. Also I had this and my daughter came out perfectly healthy I was induced so the just gave me the antibiotics as soon as I showed up and had 3 doses before she was born

It is a normal bacteria that can live in and around vaginal and anal openings. I was tested positive for GBS as well and they say all I have to do is come right in if my water breaks and call ahead of time when in labor regardless and let them know I was tested positive. I will be put on 2 doses of antibiotics during labor and they will just check baby after she is born! It happens all the time and is common. My sister was also tested positive and she had a very easy labor/ delivery and has a healthy 5 year old! No worries mama :) I am 40 weeks today and patiently waiting for my baby to come!

It a strep infection you will be given antibiotics by drip min four hours before birth. If not given in time they can give to bubs and they will monitor for 48hrs.
