pain relief during labor?

Question

what were you given during labor for pain (before epidural if you got one)? i know a lot of places are different so just curious. i was given two doses of fentanyl before my epidural at 4 cm. i was a bit scared to get fentanyl but with the amount of pain i was in, i didn’t care. sadly each dose only lasted about 20 min:(

I was only offered Tylenol. I laughed at them.

I wasn’t offered anything besides “let us know when you want the epidural. Dont wait too long because the method we use now takes some time for it to fully kick it” well turns out they werent lying lol. They had it to where you are partially numbed to take the edge off but can still feel most of it so you can push better. It was actually pretty great , only took 2 pushes since I could feel lol

I was also given two doses of fentanyl. It felt great but like you said didn’t last very long at all. Then I got the epidural. I still felt a lot of pain, so the guy who administered it had to come back and give me more or something? I don’t know what exactly was going on with that. But I still felt more pressure than I wanted to even after that. But sure beat doing it drug free I’m sure!

I tried (and hated) gas and air with my first. I didn’t feel comfortable with any of the iv medications so I didn’t have any pain medication until my epidural. I was checked as soon as my epidural was placed and I was 9.5. With my second I requested an epidural. I was checked after it was placed and was told to push. I’m glad I didn’t get checked before they placed the epidurals🤣.

I didnt get anytging including an epidural! Baby was ready to come and had no time for pain meds

I was offered lidocaine and fentanyl. I declined both and waited until I felt like I needed the epidural. I had to get it sooner than I would have liked, but I was still super happy with it.

I didn’t get squat! I had to wait in triage for a room to become available before I could get an epidural.

I got nothing with my first besides Motrin once I was done 
With my second I was just about to get pain meds and then my sons head popped out (no joke) so again I just got Motrin afterwards

I didn’t get anything before my epidural. That was my only pain relief as far as I know.
