My Birth Story👶💗

Shawnee

At 39 weeks 4 days (2/23) I went to my see my midwife for a non routine apt for some itching I was having. Her MA checked my blood pressure and it was high 2x (but I work there and was talking with coworkers while it was being done) so she rechecked it when we got back to the room and it was still high. My blood pressure readings have always been normal/low so she told me it's time to have her before my blood pressure gets any worse so she told me to go to the hospital to be induced.

I got there at 2PM and they started cervical ripening. After 12 hours of hanging out with hubby (345AM) they started the pitocin. All cervical checks in past weeks were showing soft cervix (70%), zero dilation. She came and checked me first thing that morning and there was still no dilation and we were now at the highest dose of pitocin. She recommended I get the epidural in order to get a balloon catheter placed to get my cervix to start dilating. It was suppose to get me to a 3 at least. I finally got to 1.5 CM 90% and she removed it cause baby heart rate was dropping here and there. So she removed it and turned off my pitocin for an hour. She broke my water after taking out the balloon. I was then dilated to 2.5CM. She came in at 1AM to check me and I was at a 2cm 75-80%. My cervix started to swell & she could feel Kezli's head. She said let's monitor for 3 more hours but I am getting worried. She came in at 5AM 2/25 and checked and it was now her forehead coming through without any progress with dilation, just more swelling of the cervix. So she decided we are going to have to do a c-section cause I wasn't progressing any. It was also determined at delivery that my pelvis inlet is too small and I won't be able to deliver vaginally.

Well we got prepped for the OR and they wheeled me in there and I began to shake. Uncontrollably shake. I began to freak out. My husband was there next to me communicating with the anesthesiologist. I ended up throwing up but felt much better after. Then after 27 hours of labour I heard the tiniest little cry and AJ was bringing her sweet face over to me. How amazing it was to see her precious face wide eyes and smacking her lips already at me. Then I began to fall asleep and couldn't keep my eyes open, scaring my husband. I guess I had lost 1 liter of blood but otherwise everything went good. She had a laceration on her nose possibly due to the balloon catheter, bruise lines on the back of her head from the internal contraction monitor, and a small bruise on her ear.

I would do all of it again in a heart beat as long as I got the same result, our sweet Kezli 💜
