Invited to dinner (read)
My in-laws invited me and husband for a dinner at their house. Set time and everything. When we arrived they were sitting on the table eating, just the 2 of them, table set for 2. They welcomed us, and told us to wait in the living room (open concept) - we could see them eating. Once they finished, they served us drinks in the living room. In-laws asked if we'd like dinner now or later, husband said later. Husband and fil went to the yard for some repairs while I chatted with my mil. She asked me to choose what I want for dinner (showed me the options in the kitchen) and I picked. She set the table for 1 - my husband. I was seating and chatting with my in-laws in the living room while my husband had dinner. She later packed his leftovers and the food I picked for myself and gave us a doggy bag to take home. They did serve me desserts and drinks in the living room though.
His parents are nice, we have an okay relationship, I've had a lot of dinners with them, all normal, this is the first time something like this has ever happened. I was too confused and weirded out to comment honestly. Husband doesn't see anything wrong (they are his parents), so I don't plan on talking to his about it. Am I crazy for thinking this is weird and rude?
