My L&D story!
My labor and delivery story!
Honestly, I was afraid of labor and delivery and was dreading for that day to come. I was afraid something bad would happen to me or my baby.
Pretty much the whole month of January I had started to get a lot of inconsistent and mild contractions (Braxton Hicks contractions). Then at my prenatal appointment on Monday the 18th of Jan, she checked to see if I was dilating yet, and I was at 2cm. Baby’s head was down and my cervix was soft. That entire week after my checkup, I had noticed more random contractions and mild cramps in my lower back, and more pressure down there. I did everything I could to help go into labor to get it over with lol, I walked everyday to the mailbox or around the grocery store, bounced on a exercise ball, and stretched to try and help my body. Well Sunday the 30th of January, I noticed a strong contraction at around noon and that one was different from the ones I had previously been having. We went into town to do some grocery shopping, and I noticed I had more pressure down there than usual, and had to use the bathroom a few times more than usual. When we got home I felt extremely tired, so I ended up taking a nap for about an hour and a half then after I woke up I went to the bathroom, and noticed my mucus plug had came out. I started contracting very strong, and very painful cramps in my lower back at around 5pm, then started timing them because they were consistent and very painful. My lower back was killing me every time I had a contraction so I knew something was off. My contractions then became 5-10 apart consistently that’s when I told chance let’s go to the birthing center I need to be checked. So we left, and got there at around 8pm, and they admitted me into a room right away, and I had to do a urine sample. When she checked to see how far I was dilated my water bag broke, and I was at 5cm. (Before that they didn’t believe I was in labor lol). I must’ve been calm or something! The doctor thought I was having Braxton Hicks the whole time. I also told the doctor no epidural. I walked around the room, and organized all of my belongings, and bounced on the ball the entire time while I filled out paperwork and then my contractions got stronger, and closer together 2min apart at around midnight. Everything went by so fast by the time it was 2:00am, they had me start pushing, and she was here by 2:31am on Monday the 1st of February, 2021. Honestly, labor and delivery wasn’t bad at all, it was the best and most amazing experience ever. I had a harder time being pregnant... you can’t have the best of both worlds! I did tear when I was pushing, and had to get stitched up but it is worth it. It is the most amazing feeling in the world when you’re baby is finally out and you get to feel they’re skin against you’re skin and little body against yours. She weighed 8lbs exactly. Strong and healthy baby girl!
