Black out curtains

Question

I have an almost 2 year old and I have “blackout curtains and blinds” but they do not work very well there’s still so much light that’s let in I’ve used pins and blankets to keep the light out more. They just always seem to move or something. So I was wondering if anyone has better recommendations for black out things? Thank you in advance

Do you have them well extended beyond the frame of the window?  For them to work properly, they need to be quite a bit higher than the top of the window and the bar extended well beyond the sides to get the full effect.

We used deconovo total blackout curtains for my son and they worked really well. I bought the 84 inch length so they went to the floor, then I would clip them together in the middle with one of my hair clips so no light came through. Worked like a charm. Now I have Potterybarn blackout curtains in my new baby’s room and they seem to be pretty good as well. Sometimes if there’s light coming from the sides I put pillows or other items on the floor to press the curtains against the wall so no light comes out of the sides.
