Is this because of preeclampsia?

OB said I might have preeclampsia at my appointment￼ last week. I just recently had something really stressful happen after and I’ve been crying a lot and now my ankles are like extremely￼ swollen, I mean you can’t even see my ankle. I just got done crying & I look down bc my legs & feet are bothering me & they’re hugeeee. does that have something to do with the preeclampsia? ￼

Yes preeclampsia does cause extreme swelling.  With preeclampsia your blood pressure is usually high already, so crying would make that worse and could cause swelling.  Put your feet up, drink some ice water, and rest with a cold rag on your face.  You need to calm down and cool off.  That is the best way to help your blood pressure go back down.

Yes and a sudden change should be reported immediately or get checked at the ER. My preeclampsia turned to hellp syndrome a day after my appointment and I needed an emergency delivery. It may be ok but a worsening of symptoms when you've had high pressure  is an emergency call to your dr.

If you were upset and crying, your blood pressure would undoubtedly elevate. So yes, it's likely that it triggered the swelling. I had mild pre e in my first pregnancy.

I absolutely couldn’t be wrong but, if I remember correctly that is a sign of preeclampsia. I’d go in and get checked out.
