Did your pediatrician draw your babies blood at 12 month appt?

We had my babies doctor appointment to for her 12 month check up. They drew her blood to check her iron and to make sure there isn't lead in her blood. I told my mom and she's kind freaking out saying that's not normal. So just want to know if your doctors did this as well.

My son had his iron levels checked at 12mo. It may not be normal to your mother, as it may have not been a thing back when she had an infant(s).

They poked one of my son's fingers to check his iron but that's it

Here is my babe checking out his Band-Aid  from his one year appointment. They prick the finger once and take 2 samples from it.

They did with my son since our house is over 100 years old and we already know it has lead paint. It’s scary to see our little ones in pain when they take their blood, but I feel it’s 100% worth it since lead poisoning is so dangerous. I honestly would be more upset if they didn’t request a blood test.

Yes my son had to have his drawn as well. His pediatrician office said they always do a blood test at a year to check for lead and some other things.

Mine got this at her 9 month check up. Little finger prick. Totally normal and part of the well visit. No need to freak out.

Oh, goodness. I hope they don't want to.  😩 They definitely asked us about our living situation when he was younger to see if he would be at risk for lead poisoning. Don't they already get vaccines at this appointment? I got traumatized when my oldest had to get blood drawn at one point (he was sick). It was terrible, they poked him like 5 times and never was able to draw blood at the doctor's so then we had to go to a blood draw facility and they were able to do it really quick.

Nope. Never have had that happen, my guess is they had other symptoms to indicate a check .
